Today started off with a brief trip to the spice market where we were shown an array of different small vendors, including ones that were frying and cooking different types of peppers in a huge metal pot over a fire (pictures below). After our bus ride with much impromptu karaoke, we arrived at a contemporary art museum that was totally entrancing. Upon entering there were many immediately interesting pieces that pulled in even those on the trip who don't typically find themselves looking at art. For instance, the most first piece in the gallery was a life-size clay sculpture of an Indian woman--wrinkles, fat rolls, fabric Sari and all--seated on the ground that was so realistic you could've sworn she was real. I would go on to explain all the pieces I liked but there would be no way I would get enough sleep to wake up for our 6:30am airport departure. In total, we visited 2 contemporary art museums, 1 auction gallery (complete with a Messi jersey), and a the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum, full of art historical artifacts from an array of cultures.
